GRAVENHURST — On Monday Tim Forwell and his daughter Kim attended the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst’s luncheon with a $25,000 cheque in hand to help seven hard working students get a university education.

While in Florida, Tim had read about the dilemma many children in Gravenhurst had trying to save for a college or university education. As a cottager on Lake Muskoka he understood summer jobs available to Muskoka students were limited and the pay lower than in the city.

On returning from Florida two years ago, Tim contacted Ken Little with the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst and inquired as to how he could help. Little explained “the club was trying to change the expectations of students and their families by creating a fund to help their children and how much the community was helping by donating to the Rotary Bursary Endowment Fund.”

This year Little said: “After noting to Tim that 41 students applied for help this year and that there was insufficient funds to help them all, Tim was very excited to offer his support again and said his daughter Kim is also very supportive of the cause.”

On Monday, the students to be the beneficiaries of his generosity sat with Tim and his daughter.

Little said: “The students were so excited and so appreciative, and they didn’t know what to say other than ‘thanks.'”

That is all Tim Forwell and his daughter needed to hear. Each of the students will receive a cheque for at least $3,500.

If by hard work, good fortune or inheritance you are in a financial position to help local students, and if a simple “thank you” is all you expect from children so overwhelmed with your generosity they can hardly talk, then call Ken Little with the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst, then invest a minute at their website www.bursaryfund.ca. Or call Ken Little at 705-687-7777. These students and their families need your help!
